Craig Mattson

Craig Mattson is a researcher, writer, and professor dedicated to exploring how people find meaning in their work. His journey began when a successful friend confessed, “I don’t think my work means anything,” sparking a passion to study purpose, resilience, and vocation in modern workplaces. He is the creator of The Mode/Switch, a newsletter and podcast helping professionals build more meaningful careers.

Currently a Full Professor and Endowed Chair at Calvin University, he previously taught communication at Trinity Christian College for two decades. He is the author of Digital Overwhelm (2024), Why Spiritual Capital Matters (2021), and other works, with research published in leading communication journals. Through his work, he invites people across generations to make work more human, hopeful, and purpose-driven.
